A little bit sappy

A little bit sappy

Over-sentimental, what’s wrong with sap?

The crystallised energy, now spent

and rested

Ready, to build up again

Walls of energy circling around each

other

and becoming squishy balls

of love

Sap weeps from a plant

And, nobody criticises

Wraps, tenderly, around you

There’s no need to pretend

Hands jump to your side

and calm your curves and edges

Other energies hold you

and steady your stems

Internal spikes alleviated

Paws greet

Tails wag and tears weep

It’s the perfect stream of human

they perfected

When we are stunned into silence

There’s no need to, even, speak

We morph into the energies

we live around

The sap, and the steady

The dark humour

When the world feels so

relentless

The ones that we choose

as friends

They leak promises of

tomorrow in

Spin them, in synchronicity

Into our perspectives

Do dogs smell colours?
and does music have a breath
As well as depth?
Can dogs see invisibility between
galaxies
Merging spaces between our worlds
and the next

Spooks and shocks of every day
are nothing
When screeching engines don’t even speak
It’s what the insides say
Humans needing support and a hands
To hold
A dread moving to yellow glimmers
from white,
Cloaks us like puppy swagger
Covers living, like a sheet

Freshly cut grass has a taste
The scent of a ticking clock
Tender paws can do this
Shades of mauve, fifty trenches deep
When the weight of feeling small
and the world
Draws a beautiful sense of perspective
When hurt
leaves us aching and hot

Capturing, feeling, tasting
and holding, like a beacon
What their body stores
No encoding
The gentleness
In intricacies
that no senses, and nonsense, forgot

They are everything
Distinctions on which the
world draws
The hope and joy, becomes the dream
and a peaceful reality
Held between two paws
